Coming Out: 4th<6 October
18, 2021
I'm sick to death with all
this incessant whining about how we need to win it all this year combined with
our absolute denial of statistical facts. Within that denial are two fatal
flaws in reasoning that's melded with incessant naiveté . When you
combines your denial with that "I'll-never-be-anything-but-be-a-loser"
use of pre-canned verbiage, ideas & concepts ... provided to you by the
other 31 other franchises ... you begin to understand that you are the
problem. In other words, there is no Super Bowl victory for this franchise
until you open your senses to the reality that is clearly well before your
eyes. Have you ever asked yourself why am I miserable (True Viking Fan)
whilst A. A. Ron is nothing but glib (saying relax ... its in the bag)? Is
A. A. Ron really that good or will another set of downs inside the 5 going-in
help him out or how about a Stefon Diggs TD reversal, coming from New York,
rewarding offensive pass interference when no flags were dropped on the play?
So how do you know that you are the problem? Well if you find yourself, at
any time, espousing that we need to fire our head coach Mike Zimmer because he's
responsible for what his kicker did, or that he's responsible for what actually
resulted on the filed, then you can begin to appreciate your first step toward
an actual Super Bowl victory. People, the reason Coach Zimmer's hand
shakes is not due to shell shock but is actually the result of finally opening
his eyes to the stimuli imparted by outside nefarious forces. Denial of
these facts is tantamount to denying 60 years of our naiveté history ...
as if the 1909 Chicago Black Sox's scandal had never happened.
So ask yourself, when did Bashaud Breeland actually begin applying the skills
demonstrated in practice on game day that secured that original starting
role. It was after he was exposed as a fraud and then labeled by Pro
Football Focus as the worst DB in the league. It's a bitch when someone is
actually keeping & then paying attentions to ones individual score. On
a 1 year deal, that's not much of a resume to secure any type of long term
commitment from anyone ... Period. So what changed? Well, why would
any outside source pay someone, if he can no longer influence the game in any
significant way because he was exposed by that shining light. Then, in
walks Cameron Dantzler where he demonstrated his shut down potential in the
replacement of Breeland. The result is the return of Zimmer's top 5
defense. Dantzler then records COVID protocol giving Breeland the
opportunity to unbury himself from fraud only to see that shinning light
again. With Dantzler & Breeland battling, all is well with Zimmer's
defense however with Peterson down, it left both Dantzler & Breeland on the
field, where the game mysteriously opens up versus the Panthers.
Dantzler's blown coverage enabled the inept Panthers to tie the game which now
exposes a critical unexplained failure, that again could have lost us the
game. So was does naiveté combined with athletes that feel that they are
underpaid get you ... an open door for all that outside stimuli.
Alexander Mattison's athletic skills are beyond reproach. To date in this
2021 season he's recorded quite impressive numbers. These stats can now be
used to bolster a blindness to our habitual naiveté ... as of course we have
all that verbiage in our holster. To be direct, I've been nothing less
than impressed with Alexander's overall production for this franchise & was
quite unimpressed with the number of holding flags that occurred on his runs in
the 2020 season which halved his overall production. It also prevented
Zimmer from exploiting & deploying his two headed monster in the form of
Cook & Mattison to take some of that pounding off Cook. Regardless of
all those stats & production, as well as all his recent exploits, Alexander
clearly has moved the spot light onto himself after his critical late game
fumble versus our Division Rival Lions that should have lost us the game.
Was it just one simple mistake or is it something more? What is clear was
that Cook would not playing in that game & that the overall work load would
be transferred to Alexander into a very key role within this franchise. As
one of those clearly underpaid athletes, like Case Keenum in that NFC
championship game, it would make sense to have him fall prey to that outside
influence to destroy this ship. What is clear, is that there is now no
turning back from this light, where Alexander's future is either beyond reproach
(& a secured long term deal), or it's not. Every time he now steps
into a key role ... the lights will be on.
So what's Mike Zimmer's response to all of this? It wasn't to have our
salaried kicker (he's to be paid in full for being on our opening day roster)
find the nearest exit having his roster spot replaced by some other non-kicking
entity. However, this thing is now dynamic, as Joseph missed two critical
game ending field goals again & had an extra point opportunity ripped from
his hands. Instead. coach Zimmer responded directly in kind to all that
wonderful stimuli. What we witnessed was a failed attempt on a two-point
conversion & an overtime touchdown thanks to Stefon Diggs miracle catch
where he wasn't about to relive Blair Walsh's missed chip shot versus the
Sea-A-Hole-Sea-Cocks. As it were, it also duplicated our playoff victory
versus the Saints not so long ago. "Did you like
that?!" Yup! Again, we are in playoff mode but this time
it's being carried by the entire team ... not just a few
knuckleheads.
So what did you think of that failed two point conversion? That penalty,
somewhat similar to Stefanski's recent playbook in the Stain's recent 14-7
victory, handed Zimmer the opportunity to send a clear & concise message to
his offense. "Get use to it because we may not be kicking extra
points around here anymore. We've got to do our part & utmost to
prevent the waist of resources upon unrealized external stimuli, like
back-dealing-scum-pay for some irrelevant stupid kicker." And as for
the message, "And Yah, by the way, you won't win Jack around here unless
find a way to start converting those opportunities into 8 points. Life is
Hard boys." There's nothing like coaches garnering respect from his
players that don't have all their hard earned efforts ... tossed into the trash
... by a kicker.
Except for the mugging of Adam Thielen on the final play versus the Stains,
there is one remarkable fact. If Kirk Cousins had been given an extra untrimmed
down, and had he executed a touchdown & two point conversion, he would now
clearly be the leading candidate for this years MVP award. Not bad for
someone that's going to be traded for not achieving this franchise's entry into
this years NFC championship game. Sounds overwhelming ... doesn't it ...
but what if all that hard work & focus brings upon that destiny? Now
Kirk, take a close look at the signature on that check ... you're not in
Washington anymore. When someone blurts out, "Did you like
that?", your response should be, "Yes, I liked that" ... which is
more important anyway. In other words, what you're doing on that field
will always belong to you. Kirk Cousins is my quarterback & I love
watching the masters & all that dynamic.
Klint Kubiak, when they know that it is without question that you're going to
run the ball, having all those backers & safety bite on filling the box, Irv
Jr's seam route will be open. Exploit it ... even if you fail ... it
changes the entire defensive dynamic. It is clear that Cousin's is un-nerved
watching all those center field tip balls but that is only a function of the
lack of professional execution. On internal guard-center-guard bull
rushes, dropping D-ends into coverage, the Irv Jr screen with a lead tackle will
also be devastating in max protect. Finally, Kirk Cousins actually
performed a side-ward shuffle, with his shoulders square to down-the-field, in
response to that asymmetric bull rush, showing that his development now mirrors
Brett Favre & A. A. Ron. When & if that technique fails, it is
only a result of the inexperience in your offensive line. It will always
be there & be of great effect, especially when your lineman can anticipate
the flow of your side-shuffle. Running to the side-line has little to no
effect. The down-the-field prize can result in the side-shuffle to Tackle
zone or a feet-set-throw located half way between the side line & that
tackle zone.
Did you see all those left sided gashes? Yes, in 2020 with Bradbury,
Cleveland & O'Neil on the right, the bulk of our big runs came on that right
side. In anticipation, that has shifted the box to bottle up Cooks right
side. The only problem is that Darrisaw
Exists, you remember ... that number 1 draft pick bust we've heard so much
about. I wonder where that dude will be after a few more starts?
Before you throw monkey excrement at the specimen known as Oli, having only
seven starts under his belt, you might consider why there's a plugged-up wall on
the right side. It is because it prevents a devastating Kirk Cousins play
action role-out to his left. What debt do we owe to our swing tackle
Rashod Hill for getting us
here?
We all appreciate Everson Griffen's return to the this franchise once again
achieving that starting role at defensive end opposite Danielle Hunter but we do
so with trepidation. We can ill afford to allow Everson to jump off sides
once again giving A. A. Ron a crucial free play into our end zone ... while
Everson jumps off sides. It is clear that Everson is still playing at an
elite level but he's also shown that his discipline (control over his mind, body
& soul) is not always locked down.. When our defense clearly has
earned the right to get off the field, only to have Everson foolishly shove QB
Wilson, giving the Sea-Holes offensive a new set of downs, it is clearly a red
flag. What that did was to foolishly open the door to depleting our
defense. In other words, it doesn't matter how many sacks you've recorded
when a foolish act jeopardizes victory. Most importantly of all, when
facing any mobile quarterback, you cannot give up position that maintain the
pockets integrity, to allow the quarterback to escape. Keep in mind that
Wonnum's most influential sack was when he maintained that pocket catching A. A.
Ron trying to get out on his side that ultimately forced a fumble instead of
allowing a last second Hail Mary Pass. Except for one 42 yard completion,
allowing the mobile Sam Darnold to escape that pocket integrity, knowing that
clock was screaming within his head, was inexcusable. We all know your
unquestioned will to achieve however that overdrive setting cannot always be set
on auto.
In desperation, the NCKitties converted a 4th & 10 and a 4th & 6th on
their final drive. At some point, Mike Zimmer is going to change his mind
set when he's within the 30 yard line going in where he's got to go for it on
4th & 6 or less, especially when the game is in the 4th quarter. In
fact, a 4th & less than 6 offensive snap inside the 30 should actually
happen regularly. 4th & goal from the 2 yard line screams for an
offensive snap. A missed field goal, adding 8 yards for the placement, is
not only counter productive, it rips the guts out of your team. Failing a
4th down try instead can transform the entire team as it sends a message that
leadership believes in me. There are generations of past Vikings that
could weigh in on this approach where they love the idea of allowing the entire
team the opportunity to either succeed or fail. Coach, me & my
brothers got beat but at the very least you gave us the opportunity to
bleed.
You cannot script a 50+
yard field goal attempt for victory if your team doesn't sport a kicker.
Problem solved.
Hey ... I didn't make that business decision ... you did!
And for the fans ... do you really think firing the coach is the answer to 60
years of ...
Could this be the long awaited coming out party ... onto the Pokes, Dark Star.
