Zim Ball September 22, 2021
Head Coach Mike Zimmer's
elite defensive strategy, in case you haven't noticed, is to allow the offense
to matriculate down the field in front of him, allowing nothing over the
top. If the opposing offense actually works the ball down to the red zone,
the field compresses into a matrix on which Zimmer's defense can excel.
Sure, if the offense stalls, they might be able to kick field goals all day but
if that happens, generally speaking, that team that does will lose. Now
that old Mike has all that beef in the middle of the field, with Hunter sniping
the end, it makes it very difficult to run in the red zone ... playing into Mike
Zimmer's philosophy. Sure old Mike didn't invent this defensive scheme but
he's found a way to perfect it ... that is ... until recently.
Were this philosophy all falls apart is if there is an inherent weakness to
exploit in that defense. The obvious weakness of course is Bashaud
Breeland. In the 61 points given up this year, Breeland has had a direct
hand in about half of them. Either he's not capable of performing at a
Mike Zimmer level or, he just doesn't care or, he's acting on his own behalf
where his pockets are open to all takers. The other remote possibility is
that he still thinks he's playing with an all world quarterback that can make up
for any & all mistakes that he might make. Stated quite openly, if
Breeland appears on our defense ... we have absolutely no chance of
winning. You want to win ... make Breeland inactive ... Period.
Breeland: "You
know how you can carry water with a bucket". Viewee: "I
get the metaphor ... you're the bucket". Breeland: No, I'm the
big hole in the bottom of that bucket" Viewee: "Isn't that
a problem?" Breeland: "No, I got this Super Bowl Ring
& a great story that all those idiots believe. I practice hard enough
to be on top ... then I sit back & collect all that doe for all that burnt
toast. To make it look good, I often look injured, until its time to
collect again. It makes me laugh every time I think about it. Sure I
could dig-in but it's just better this way."
Is it just me, or is Cameron Dantzler in Mike Zimmer's dog house? Wasn't
Cordarrelle Patterson also in Mike Zimmer's dog house too ... seeing him perform
all over the league? Wasn't there a bunch of players that found themselves
in that same dog house. It's a funny thing but opposites attract &
just the opposite is also true. Just put this into perspective. Mike
Zimmer is of the highest character as one of our finest coaches in Minnesota
Vikings history and somehow he gets attracted to that Super Bowl Ring wearing
piece of garbage Bashaud Breeland that's willing to sell Zimmer up the river for
a dime. On the other hand, although they may not be of the same age, nor
do they look alike, nor do that have any other outside characteristics ...
Camerson Dantzler & Mike Zimmer are cut from the same exact cloth ... or
said another way ... they repel each other like colliding north poles. Do
you want proof? Versus the Cardinals, with Breeland in, we had no chance
of winning that game. Result ... red zone touch down. Out goes
Breeland ... in come Dantzler and low & behold ... red zone shut
out. Mike ... you're an old fart and I love you to death ... right
up there with Bud Grant ... but at times you are your own worst enemy.
Players that will secure victories for you too often end up in your dog house
where they can't help us ... because they are exactly like you, but a bit
younger.
As it has always been stated, your best ability is availability. With
Dalvin Cook down, we once again turned to Alexander Mattison, but was it just
me, or did Mattison disappear once again. He's in ... does some
spectacular things ... then he' out just as fast. Now Ameer Abdullah might
be a spectacular special teams player but I ask you, "Would you rather be
rated #1 on special teams (kicking sucks) or would you rather have an unstoppable
offense. What might have happened if the "Off-the-charts
-Speedster" Kene Nwangwe, out of Iowa State, had been apart of that 53 man
roster facing all those tired legs out there in the 2nd half? Instead, we
get no Mattison & face time with Abdullah. When are we going to
get this personnel in order where we stop making judgments with our hearts but
instead make those judgments based upon winning the game. Could it be that
Kirk Cousins just doesn't trust Nwangwe in those blocking sets? Get over
it.
As for Greg Joseph & Breeland ... they would both be in my (head coaches)
office for a mandatory 1 hour meeting ... with the following rules. They
are not allowed to talk to each other. They can say whatever they want to
me ... that is ... until I heard enough. I'd then give the signal for
complete silence where they could say nothing & do absolutely nothing.
In that entire meeting I wouldn't say a word to them ... I'd just glare at them
with my bad eye. After that ... you'd know what to do.
As for Greg Joseph ... there is no excuse for missing that kick. Tell you
what, the next time you miss another kick that costs us the game, to keep your
job you'd either have to submit to a lie detector exam or you'd have to take a
wide foot kick in the nuts. Maybe I'll even have your replacement kicker
perform the service to achieve the maximum effect because no street walker would
do in this situation. Again, you may not learn a thing but maybe your
replacement will think twice about not doing his job. Zimmer has had his
fill of all this very questionable shenanigans. Accepting this in any way
shape or form will not stop it ... only propel it forward.
