"What is Says" February
18.2024
What a man says, is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what he
does. So when Kirk Cousins says that someone once told him, "That its not
about (the amount) of money ... It's about what (that amount of money) IT
says" ... It is quite telling. The word "IT" should never
be about money. What the committed resources should reflect is that we believe that you
will bring this franchise a championship. Ladies & Gentlemen ... the
sands of time in that regard have run out.
As far as Quesi is concerned, his evaluation should be about his free agent acquisitions
(in how he spends this organizations resources) combined with his acquisitions
in the draft. This is how championship teams are formed & his
performance has been piss poor. To be direct, in many ways, Rick Spielman
was better in regard to the draft, but that was after many years of serious
sputtering. Yes he sucked too.
In regard to "What it Says", well the answer is without doubt.
Kirk Cousins next contract has the high potential of being nothing less than
stupid. Why, you might ask? Well, the answer to that question is obvious
& it is why Kirk Cousins does not have a contract going forward with the
Vikings. In other words, this shouldn't surprise anyone. Why is his
next long term deal stupid? It's in regard to the committed amount as
these are the resources that an organization will be forced to foolishly invest
in him unless it is solely for the purpose of entertainment only. Good
luck Atlanta.
Let's begin with a clear statement followed by a question. So it's now
apparent that Mahomes is clearly the best quarterback in the NFL. Well his
contract should then reflect that. Let's just say that his value is a
round number let's say 50 million per year for example. Why do you suppose
that the 31 other teams then access the value of an NFL quarterback anywhere
near that value? Maybe #2 might be valued at 48 million, #3 might be
accessed at 45 million however there should be a relatively steep decline in
resource allocation from there, however that is not how it is done in the
NFL. Sure these numbers are arbitrary however there is one inescapable
fact to consider from these set of evaluation. Should every bottle of wine
be priced at $299 per bottle as if they were all bottles of Dom
Perignon?
Was Kirk Cousins infused as a Viking those many years ago to win a Super Bowl or
was he brought hear to entertain us? Better said, with hindsight, what do
you think he believes he was brought to Minnesota to do & what will his next
contract say about his mental state in that regard? Can you see Adam Thielen tell us that
he was brought to Carolina to win a Super Bowl Championship? Well, let us
consider the year prior to Kirk Cousins becoming a Viking, this franchise made
it & then lost in the NFC championship game using a journeyman backup
quarterback. Yes, it is very hard to win the playoffs, but with Kirk
Cousins under tow we actually seriously regressed the following year. That
is what awaits Kirk Cousins everywhere except maybe under Kyle Shanahan.
To be direct Brock Purdy has both accomplished & demonstrated that Kirk
Cousins either simply doesn't have it or isn't really very interested in trying
to achieve that championship ... as he's good putting up statistics against
lesser teams & just making all that coin. Let me be the first to
remind you of all the big games that he's lost & his remarkable record in
that regard. What followed was ..."It's only a (one)
game". Sure, it's remarkably true but so is the fact that the Super
Bowl is only one game where no one should trust an organizations resources to
such a thought. In 62 years there has only been one that was willing to do
whatever it took, with the hand that he was dealt, where he alone was the only
Viking quarterback to ever win an NFL championship. They needed to pummel
him into the ground ... both beaten & batters ... in Super Bowl IV to make
him give up the ship. Maybe, on the other hand, he was compromised on that
day but what was certain was that he was long gone soon
afterward.
Regardless of how you might feel about it, Kirk Cousins championship drive &
motivations, in all our years together, was never truly apparent where it became
like a UFO sighting from someone so talented. You can believe that
statement if you just simply compare Justin Jefferson drive (who has not gotten
paid yet) directly against Kirk Cousins historic drive & motivations. Sure, we
were always entertained, even in that disastrous 2021 season of one score
failures. We could blame it on many factors but that's what everyone
does. Isn't it. So where lies the truth?
If I were Quesi, my only offer would be on a one (1) year deal, with a clear
understanding that Kirk Cousins would be brought back as our bridge quarterback
but my offer would be very public as the ball lies with Kirk Cousins ... as it
should be. He's clearly wasted his opportunities in regard to winning a
championship for this franchise were he'd be paid as our bridge to either have
that one final chance to prove it with what he's built or at the very least have
the opportunity to do what he does best ... entertain the league.
The question is, will he destroy it all or will he do what is done on actual
battle fields ... to run like a little bitch or to step up and be a man?
Unfortunately, we can all see that answer as one is very easy by
comparison. However, I'm not the one that needs to look in that
mirror.
In regard to walking away, let's not forget how the 2023 season began.
Before Kirk Cousins ruptured his Achilles tendon. we were 4 & 4 beating the
Panthers, Bears, 49ers, then the Packers, respectively. Do you think $40
million per year for 3 years guaranteed is worth 500 ball? Not me.
Sure ... it was not his fault. What Kirk Cousins knows is that he's
walking away from maybe the two (2) best Offensive Tackle's in the league, one
(1) of the best Tight Ends, and two (2) prime wide receivers. He helped to
build that & in 2023 it was unfortunately destroyed. He also knows
that just about where ever that he's headed with all that guaranteed money, he's
going to have to rebuild that team in his image like he did with the Vikings all
those many years ago because there can only be one ego on that field ...
his. In other words, it really doesn't matter who is on that new roster as
there will be always be some sort of problem that will be the cause of ... pick
em.
Back in the day, it was rumored that Fran Tarkenton stated, "Where just one
player away", when we instead drafter Tommy Kramer number 1 from Rice
University. The response was, "Yeah, it's you!" The only
question today is can Quesi's group get it's head out of his own hind
quarters. His recent history tells me that he won't.
Sure, it's going to be a crap show, unless Kirk Cousins accepts that BRIDGE, but
he's clearly never demonstrated that burning drive that wins championship.
Don't get me wrong. He is a great player with incredible talent but he
just missing that particular genome of a true champion. It lies within
that mental distance between his ears & it has nothing to do with what he
might say. No one fears Kirk Cousins because he simply doesn't have
it. What is missing from his head is, an absolute delusional state,
"This is why we are going to win & nothing is going to prevent that
from happening. I will never utter a word ever again about anything to do
with losing. It's a game & you'll need to pummel me ... like Joe Kapp
... into oblivion to prevent me from winning this or any game." This
is simply just not apparent.
Buckle up because the next decade of worth of misery is dependent upon this up
coming 2024 draft. A decade ... I see allot of dead people. Well it
worked out for Moses didn't it. It's a shame that Kirk Cousins can't wait until after
the draft to make his decisions but again it's out of his control because he
will let it get out of control. Are they just one player away and is
it you Kirk Cousins?
Who will get to write your next chapter Kirk Cousins & is it "Money
Ball?" Running doesn't mean you get to run from it, as sometimes
there is no clean break. Stop using the words, maybe they don't want me
here? Maybe it's time to use the words, nothing will prevent me from
finishing "Da Ting" on my terms. Does the captain go down with
his ship & what makes that so? Not everyone gets that LA Mathew
Stafford pass.
