Additional Minnesota Viking Commentary

Unprecedented Draft March 23, 2024
It is almost comical, watching the guess work in how this upcoming draft is to go down.  Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is wielding this impressive draft day threat knowing full well that the key to his success is not to trade anything until that exact moment on draft day.  What Kwesi clearly understands is that blowing your load way too early, like in past drafts, you set yourself up with failure.   The intent is to instill absolute fear within the rank & file ... that is the NFL ... by wielding power at that very exact moment in time that disrupts absolutely everything on draft day.

Now keep in mind that Kwesi has a history of trading within his own division knowing his exact intent ... to win this franchises first Super Bowl Championship.  If that means making division opponents stronger, rather than weaker, so be it.  After all, you have to beat the best ... not a bunch of cream puffs.

Now when you look at it, as it stands today, Chicago, Washington & Boston all have jettisoned their quarterback in favor of drafting one of the top three (3) quarterbacks, of which only 1 or 2 have the possibility of making it long term in the NFL.  This is unsettling at best, which means how that draft board goes down early, means all the beans are at stake.  Everyone expects it all to start with Caleb Evans going to Chicago but what if something else actually happens.  What if Chicago takes on a very different plan containing a massive alteration in its history.  Imagine Sam Darnold being sent to Chicago with a plethora of three (3) juicy #1 picks, to build back dominance, to provide Minnesota with their choice of the top 4 quarterbacks.

You see, Chicago knows that their future quarterback, that would come with much less baggage to outshine that number 1 draft selection, will be available at the #4 or # 5 pick in this 2024 draft.  With their new found wealth of picks, after once again trading out of that #1 spot, they will be able to move up from Minnesota's newly traded #11 spot, just like everyone expects the Vikings to do.  In other words, it just might be in Chicago best interest to select J. J. McCarthy, combined with a whole lot of additional draft capital, putting them on an entirely different trajectory.  In other words, both Chicago & Minnesota have a keen vested interest in burying the Packers for decades to come.  In other words, might the Fudgies  pay for Rodger's classless statement, "I own you!"  Will there be a day of reckoning?

Now ask yourself the question, why should all that draft capital wealth leave the NFC north for some other undeserving bunch of knuckleheads?  Now consider a simple fact.  Once the draft board changes at the top everything changes.  The top five in particular will be looking instead for draft capital rather than to settle for someone that they don't covet.  In other words, will either the Patriots or the Redskins settle for Caleb Williams if they don't covet him thinking that he was supposed to be off the board.  Keep in mind that just by statistics, two of the top four are not projected to be long term answers.  Expect that this years draft rooms will be beyond hectic as Marvin Harrison Jr. ... clearly a generational talent ... might be coming off the board way before the time expected leaving draft spots 4 & 5 in complete chaos.

Why is this years draft unprecedented?  It is because both the Bears & Vikings have collectively acquired all the key draft capital to do exactly what they want in this 2024 draft.  However, this is only true if both work together to advance their own directives.  On the surface, it's been standoffish ... thank you but we are not interested ... however those thoughts are more than short sighted.  Keep in mind that Kwesi traded with Detroit, and they've become an immediate division champion however if Kirk Cousins doesn't rupture his Achilles' tendon, maybe both Detroit & Minnesota might have been NFC powerhouses.  We'll never know.

Here's the rub.  Chicago did the right thing in moving on from Justin Fields.  Now, without him, the Chicago Bears are perceived to be in a "Must-Move" position, to select what is perceived to be the number 1 quarterback ... whomever they might have in mind, but that's actually not the case.  You see ... Chicago & Minnesota can do whatever they want and it is my belief that they will do that very thing.  Chicago doesn't have to fit into your mold people.  They are not stupid & there is a brand new regime in charge & they are ready to take on risk to achieve their objectives.  Don't believe me, just look at the move Chicago made last year which set them up for this years 2024 #1 pick in the draft.  They are building a team, which means long term success.

There is a reason why the Bears & Vikings split games year after year... the balance is always tenuous.

Here is why it cannot be done.  It cannot happen because everyone on this green earth of blue oceans will say ... "It can't happen!"  Period!

Here is why it will happen.  It's because Chicago is not the Bears of old ... it has moved on from Justin Fields.  They are sick of settling for what they have been
getting ... they want more.  Some say that they are idiots for what could be perceived as only a 6th round pick in compensation for fields ... but there is more here people.  What is on the horizons is absolute brilliance combined with a paradigm shift of epic proportions.  Rarely are you given the ability to wield this much power and collectively both can dominate.  Problem is ... they both need to walk through that door.  It's not about some stupid chart, it's about landing irreparable punches that leave a mark.

Not to worry though.  Ego's always dominate over substance, wisdom & skill.  Rest assured in, "It won't happen.,"

So ... the big question is ... are the Vikings actually on the clock?
