Reflected Douche February
18, 2022
The term anti-hero does not adequately describe Tom Brady, unless he won your
Super Bowl. A better term would be "Reflected Douche" as he
represented the reflection of the NFL's machine ... all neatly packaged into a
disposable douche. Just add vinegar. What the NFL would like to call
"The GOAT" is instead one of the most reviled A-holes walking the
planet. Enjoy your retirement.
As for former Head Coach Mike Zimmer I was appalled awaiting your proper send
off ... so I waited ... & it never came ... so I'll make a humble attempt to
get it right. First & foremost the words thank you come to the
forefront ... in my minimal gratitude ... as there were very few that sacrificed
as much as you did for this franchise over your many short years of
service. Others may have disregarded this but no one could ever deny
it. In the annals of all those 60+ odd years of our existence, I've seen
no one that even came close to attempting to handle the controversy &
set-backs that you were made to endure ... always with your head held up
high. In the final analysis, as brilliant as you were in that one phase of
the game, special teams always found a way to knife you in the back. If
special teams represented 4% of the game, 48% belonged to the offensive side of
the ball, where it was easy to trust facing mediocre & below teams, but
there always appeared to be a disconnect when it counted most. Trust alone
could never trump those overwhelming odds that always seemed to be stacked
against you. Maybe that iron-clad bond might have co-existed with Kevin
Stephanski, if he'd been "drawn-in" as your offensive master ... along
your early years ... but that never happened in favor of a carrousel of other
big name guru's. In any event, what could have resulted ... we all now
lament. So long ... my
friend.
In these immortal words ... "As the conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot,
the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him .. A slave stood behind him
holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: That all glory is
fleeting". Why am I presenting this now, because you make your money
the day you purchase ... not on the day you sell. To our new head coach Kevin O'Connell & General
Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensa ... Kirk Cousins just got Mike Zimmer & Rick
Spielman fired. He has been paid well beyond his station & should
never be allowed to negotiate another contract with this franchise, ever again, unless it is
for the explicit purpose of trading that contract to another franchise for our
benefit. The
resources extended in his time here has derailed numerous other options that
may have made a significant difference. In the 2021 draft, we had the pick
before the Patriots secured their next franchise quarterback. Kirk Cousins represents the highest form of
entertainment available in the form of absolute Minnesota Vikings franchise
suffering. Although he clearly has the talent he will
never be allowed to hoist anything for this franchise. The same cannot be
said for the other 30 franchises as that story has not yet been written where
the commissioner & his goons just might relish throwing that bit of drama
back in our face. You might fear this, or be embarrassed by it, but that
is the true value of the draft picks that will result for this franchise from
that screenplay. The sooner that you deal with this reality the sooner you
will reach that unattainable goal, for if it were to be ... it would have
already happened under Kirk Cousins.
Just because Mike Zimmer didn't get to be this franchise's first coach to win
its first Super Bowl Championship doesn't mean that he was wrong. He had
an explicit vision which was destroyed & now lays in waste. There was
a disconnect of epic proportions as the formula seen under Case Keenum never
resurfaced. There is a vast difference between, "Just let me do my
job" & just do your job. In other words, proving that you were
right (countering Zimmer) lost us all the war. This franchise lost a great
warrior in Mike Zimmer where instead he should have been extended an olive
branch ... a permanent office just like Bud. It's never too late to
correct that mistake.
There will be numerous other quarterbacks involved in block-buster trades for
the 2022 season, but Kirk Cousins will be in a completely different category.
Rodgers & Wilson will direct their trade to a "Tom-Brady-Like"
all-star team to ensure a Super Bowl just like Mathew Stafford or Tom Brady
before him. Kirk Cousins ... the Teflon Don ... represents something
completely different, because Kirk Cousins will have no say on his destination
(Just like Randy Moss being dealt to Oakland - his purgatory for his inept hand
in allowing the elites to walk all over him ). Jacksonville & Houston would
relish the chance to rebuild their franchises under his spectacular QB ratings
& Teflon approach to the game. More importantly, his entertainment value & durability will
bridge a franchise the time to rebuild into a contender. There will be
more than one bidder for his services where the Vikings should parlay this into
its best possible deal. Why will this happen? It is because the NFL
is entertainment first & foremost & the NFL needs a proven lot in every
contest.
Sean Mannion is now history in Minnesota which should have ended in 2020.
No one knows if Spielman's Kellen
Mond could possibly be our future where all we know is, "Not according to
Zimmer". Regardless of
whether there is an elite quarterback in this years draft or not, it is
paramount that the Vikings immediately secure their future with a quarterback
within in his rookie deal & make an actual effort to develop him. Trading
for Jordan Love comes to mind as he & the Packers may be looking for his way
out of Green Bay, under A. A. Ron's repressive umbrella. The Packers may
feel differently about Love's projection where they may see a significant
advantage in dealing with this very Vikings franchise ... in it's self imposed turmoil
... which can offer an irresistible opportunity to keep A. A. Ron sated.
Ladies & gentlemen ... there is a new sheriff in town ... where the
unthinkable is now a possibility. Jordan Love is not seen as the heir
apparent of Favre & Rodgers. It might be a simple as offering a rare
something that is proven (not named Jefferson) for something that is
unproven. It is now clear that significant changes are coming.
The hardest thought in facing the ejection of Zimmer & Spielman was the
overall impact, where we face the real possibility of another decade before we
became relevant in this league once again. To be direct, these drastic
changes have been made to change our time line from the possibility of achieving
nothing to sending this whole thing on a completely different trajectory.
We will soon find out what kind of horse traders we now have in our paddock
where they are going to have to think outside of the box & see opportunity
where no one else would be willing to look.
Deshaun Watson maybe in the top 100 in this league but he does not fit under the
NFL's Tom Brady mold required to secure our goal of a Super Bowl
championship. With his history, Houston is delusional in regard to his NFL
draft trade value. If Deshaun Watson ends up in Viking Purple, as his exit
from his own personal purgatory, it should be for no more than a swap of Kirk
Cousins 1 year overpaid commitment, with an open ended option to reconsider our
commitment at
the end of one year. In other words, after Watson's prove it year, his
contract can be dumped back into the hands of the Texans - just like the Hershel
Walker trade. Houston made the long term commitment to him ... not us ... & they
should pay in kind for that mistake. This franchise should not get involved
in any long term commitment with Watson until it is in our absolute benefit to
do so. Watson should be viewed as no more than a 1
year transition at most, as a swap for Kirk Cousins 1 year commitment. Again,
firmly keep in mind that Watson does not represent obtaining our overall goal in
any way, shape or form until his script is allowed to change in the eyes of the
NFL.
