Misfiring September 12, 2021
Well, as expected, this
Minnesota Vikings offense was misfiring on all cylinders today. Zulgad ...
your gushing makes me sick! The most
important question to be answered today was, "Did Rashod Hill play
well enough at Left Tackle to win the game in Cincinnati?" The answer
was yes, he was good enough but is Rashod our best option at that position. Maybe today he
was but Christian Darrisaw is clearly destined to overtake him in time.
Did Rashod Hill play so poorly to be replaced by Oli Udoh at Left Tackle?
The answer was clearly an abrupt no! So it would be wise to stay on our
present course, or better said, "Stop-Gap Plan" to get us to an
evolved offensive line.
What every one of those offensive lineman should be keeping emblazoned upon
their minds should be, "For as poorly as our offensive line played today,
what difference would it have been if Darrisaw was put out there today?"
Sure it would have been a crap show but Christian would have picked up
unquestioned & invaluable experience. We must be diligent so as not to
waste our resources (valuable playing time). Rashod can be reinserted as
Darrisaw's swing tackle, if need be. There is no time like the present,
regardless of Darrisaw's preparation, where there is no greater motivator than to be
thrown feet first into the fire. Sure, he might have made a few mistakes but after
today, "Who would have noticed?" Darrisaw also just might surprise you
where his play might have resulted in a different result, especially if Zim
doesn't give Cleveland the day off like he did today. Unless Darrisaw is holding his tree-nuts trying to pull to the opposite end ... you've got to
allocate your resources now to attain your end-season goals. Darrisaw
Exists!
As for Kirk Cousins, Tyler Conklin should be his mostest-bestest-friend on the
planet. Our run game sputtered badly today because we played directly into the
defenses hands, by failing to exploit Conklin's role within our scheme to the fullest. If QB
Cousins had worked to develop Conklin early, even in just one more failed early
attempt, it would have drastically changed the Bengal's defensive game plan. Irv Jr
is out ... ignore the tight end. Force the Vikings to use Conklin as a
blocker, as we bottled up the line of scrimmage, to stop Cook. How could
you have missed that Klint Kubiak, AKA "KK" or "Double
K"? Tom Brady is Tom Brady because he exposes linebackers by using
his tight ends as down the field threats. He doesn't cross them as much as
seem them-up. Don't make that mistake again.
So what did I think of Oli Udoh? As raw as he was handling only his 2nd
start, I loved what I saw. He is a specimen & the Vikings should
continue feeding him start after start. Sure the offensive line didn't open
up many holes but was
that the fault of the right sides personnel or was it a failed scheme. Patton was once
asked how he planned to handle attacking the Metz (fortress). His response
was that fortresses are built by the stupidity of mankind. In other words,
he had no intention on attacking your strength when he could instead bypass
it. Why do we think that we need to "Power the Ball" to be able
run it? Take a page from Bill Walsh, that bypassed the fortresses, by
passing around them to set up or establish the run. Zimmer's 1st down philosophy ...
every time ... is way to campy & it sends a horrendous message to the
offense. We gotta get at least one yard on the ground because I don't
trust our passing game to get 4 to 8 yards on 1st down. Our multiple false
starts clearly proved that this 1st-down-run-the-ball just wouldn't work,
especially being 1st & 15 or 1st & 20. Was it me or did it seem
like this happened on every drive?
In regard to Mike Zimmer's first challenge, the league office should definitely
get an earful over that call. Justin Jefferson was clearly in the end zone
where he was stripped of his 1st touchdown of the 2021 season. After
botching the review using 3" thick glasses, they took from us what could have been a vital time out
where the replay
clearly indicated that he was not down prior to breaking the plane of the goal. We
still scored however this roughshod officiating is a complete an absolute
sham. The league is an absolute disgrace. Sure, it's the Vikings ...
who cares if we are always screwing the Viking's over. Allow me to point out that
this franchise is not a Tom Brady all star team filled with veterans that are
paid to play, by using the salary cap resources of numerous other franchises ...
so the old Tommy Boy can be called a goat ... please!
Did Dalvin Cook lose the game today? In his mind he probably thinks that
is a fact but it is not.
Allow me to break that pivotal call down to explain the intricate absurdities of
this particular NFL
fumble. When any fumble occurs it requires two separate calls:
1. The "First Separate
Call" is in regard to whether the play actually resulted in a fumble or not. If the
official does not clearly see the runner losing possession before being touched down,
then the only call that can made is that the ball remains with the runner ...
call "Down
by Contact". All ties go to the offense ... not to the defense ...
and clearly not to the home team. Only
if a runner is clearly seen losing possession, prior to be touched down, can the
official rule that it's a fumble.
2. The "Second
Separate Call", which
is completely separate from the first, is made after the alleged fumble occurs,
where the official indicates who secured possession of the ball after the
alleged fumble. In no way should any official indicate a change of
possession based upon who secured any alleged fumble.
In all cases,
simultaneous possession results in rewarding the ball to the offense ... never
the defense ... where simultaneous possession of a catch in the end zone results
in a touch down.
The second call was clear & concise, in that the Bengal's obtained possession
of the ball, after the
alleged fumble however the official indicated a 1st down signal based upon the
2nd call. The first call of whether is was a fumble or not was the issue
... not the second call. There was no clear evidence that a fumble occurred at all which
meant that the first call by the official should have been down by contact. Down by
contact is the only call based upon the clear replay evidence, where in actual speed,
there was absolutely no discernable way determine that the runner lost possession of the
ball prior to being down by contact. Any different claim is
ludicrous.
Overturning any call should be based solely upon the first call ... and never the second. The
officials, and by extension the commentators, wrongly applied the 2nd call to the 1st
call. The officials have much to much leeway by blurring these two calls
into one & it cost the Vikings its chance to wins today's game. Granted the call was close, however the burden of proof, to
overturn the ruled fumble should have been applied to the defense, not the
offense. If this absurd call had been called correctly, since there was no video evidence one way
or another, the official call should have been down by contact ... not a fumble. As it
turned out, this call decided the outcome of the game and this blurring of,
"the second call overwhelming the first call", was clearly
misapplied by the officials.
With less than 2 minutes
left in the game, there should have been an official time out to stop play &
review the video evidence. There has to be clear & concise evidence
that a fumble occurred. There was no such evidence & as such the call
clearly should have been down by contact. The burden of proof one way or
another shall always lie with the team that originally possessed the ball.
Proof should never be assigned to what may or may not have been seen in a
bang-bang moment... or left in the hands of any biased judge. This system
is nothing short of a license to steal & the NFL should be ashamed of
itself. Welcome to "Steeler-Country" as that's how we do things
around here.
As for who's at fault for losing the game, it lies directly at the feet of our
Head Coach Mike Zimmer ... God I love him to death! He has clearly been
blinded by the Super Bowl ring of Bashaud Breeland. Breeland is clearly
this defenses greatest liability. Regardless of whether we are talking
about today's over the top touchdown that he gave up or versus his buddies in
Kansas City, he duplicated the exact same body language exposing his absolute
fraud. On both plays, he
had no over the top safety help, where on both of his duplicate maneuvers he
acted as if he did have over the top safety help. Today, the closest
safety was on the opposite side of the field just as it occurred in Kansas
City. Are you telling me that the defensive call did not clearly indicate that Breeland had no business playing in
that manner whatsoever? Is this Xavier Rhodes 2.0 ... all over again? Breeland might
be great in practice but he clearly cannot be trusted.
Either he's mentally incapable of retaining a basic defensive calls or he's being
paid to purposely undermine Zimmers's defense. Breeland is also clearly
a liability in defending the run on his side of the field. Both Kris Boyd
& Harrison Hand may not possess either the experience nor the pedigree but
both are "Zimmer Products" that almost never vary from Zimmer's defensive schemes & tactics.
Breeland is no Newman! Mike Zimmer wants to achieve an elite status for his defense.
It's my
opinion that Breeland is way too great a liability to make that happen. To be
direct, I have not been blinded by the glitter of that Super Bowl ring &
you're not going to get away with it. Mike Zimmer trusted &
he got burned once again. There's evil everywhere. Will he stand for
more or will he take action to get his defense firing back ... as it
should? Kicker aren't the only scum bag traders that are out there.
You send the message ... that I see it ... and that I refuse to stand for it ...
you'll get it back to where it should be. I'm too old to let this crap
slide.
Good news, we have a kicking game. The bad news is that if the highlight
or bright spot of your day revolves around your kickers ...
