Stop rewarding Dreg~
The NFL dumps a huge amount of time & resources into developing an
image ... with a firm hand & grasp within respect ... as the overall product
is dependent upon it. You don't respect money ... you respect
integrity. Sure soccer, or European Football, may be the worlds most
popular sport ... as it is played worldwide ... however it cannot be compared in
any way to the NFL & it's product. In fact, in the way kickers are
used in the NFL, one could state that the NFL incorporated kickers into the
game, to bastardize feet-only sport & then have a good chuckle at the
expense of European Football. The impasse is that Hardliners simply will
never allow balls & hands together to be as one. Where the NFL falls
apart is in it's inconsistencies.
The league made the commitment to review pivotal aspects of the game ... to be
certain it gets things right ... but these reviews have been held behind a
curtain of sleaze ... and its becoming quite telling.
Here's what the league doesn't want to happen. That there is some sort of
slow motion review that can be used to manipulate something that could not be
discerned at game speed. Such as an arm bar, that can be manipulated into
being a push off to reverse a call from a touch down to offensive pass
interference. There are many instances of trying to manipulate views,
using slow motion footage, however this tawdry use technology should never be
used as an excuse to overlook flagrant violations.
Most recently, Tom Brady's had his helmet grazed by a Chief lineman on his rush
which immediately drew the flag. The intent of that flag was not to
protect Tom Brady ... and only Tom Brady ... any time his helmet is even touched
by a defender. It was to prevent linemen from helmet to helmet hits that
drove Troy Aikman & Steve Young out of the league due to successive
resulting concussions. Now compare that Tom Brady hit with Kirk Cousins
being strip sacked, followed by a defensive touchdown, after he was clearly
speared in the head, which clearly may have caused Cousins fumble/strip..
What makes this so absolutely outrageous was the original call on the field was
that Kirk Cousins was sacked, which wasn't enough, where a challenge flag was
thrown, because they wanted the turnover & touchdown too. Because
there was no flag thrown for spearing Kirk Cousins in the helmet, which is
clearly a flagrant violation in this league, the field officials where unable to
overturn the call from a strip-sack-turnover-touchdown to reversing the sack,
applying a 15 yard penalty, and loss of the challenge-time-out. In this
instance, since the foul wasn't called, the decision to request the challenge
could only enhance or sweeten the dreg~ In other words, the leagues policy
... as it stands ... is never to correct a wrong but instead to reward a clear
violations of league play. Which begs the question ... Is the NFL all
about fantasy points ... or does integrity & respect of the game actually
mean something? Going one step further ... the gold standard of
entertainment digresses to cheats. Now that's
entertainment.
In watching the Bears-Packers contest ... early ... when the game still was in
play, Trubisky was strip sacked, resulting in a recovered fumble, that also
resulted in a Packers touchdown return. Since all scoring plays are
reviewed, what the world got to witness was Trubisky's face mask being pulled by
two Packer's defenders, one before the ball comes out & one
afterwards. Since again, no flag was called, the fouls were disregarded in
favor of a Packer's touchdown. At that very moment, the Bears chances in
that contest were for all purposes were over. Once again, the NFL's chose
to reward the Dreg~
The purpose of any scoring review or attempt (field goal), or change of
possession, is not to see if a reception survived contact with the ground (what
is & what is not a catch), but it's to determine if the play was in fact
clean ... calling it a league standard. Have you ever noticed that when
the play is not so pristine that they need to archive that play from some sort
of special vantage point of view. In other words, instead of seeing Kirk
Cousins helmet get jarred, you get a view of the play from Cleveland, OH.
Great job ... print it.
Well you say it's just a bunch of sour grapes but it does matter. Not so
long ago, the Vikings were competing with the Sea-holes, for seeding position
where once again this franchise found itself playing in Seattle. The
Vikings line up for a crucial field goal attempt & the kick is blocked by
Wagoner. Of course there was no scoring as this was only an attempt
however Wagoner vaulted over the line, propping himself up upon his linemen,
which is illegal, to vault that line. Since a flag wasn't thrown and that
field goal attempts are not considered scoring, the play was not reviewed.
This violation was clearly there for all to see where it was admitted that the
call was missed. Again, by allowing this to happen, the NFL has chosen to
reward the Dreg~ Seattle again wins the conference tie breaker which meant
advancing through Seattle. Today, since it is known that attempts are not
reviewed, every possible limit is now exploited beyond reason where a defender
knows that an offical may not catch being off-sides, which can result in a
breakdown, which can ultimately result in a blocked kick. Again,
reward the Dreg~
The NFL has identified it's pivotal moments to the point where most of those
plays are now reviewed. Do you think the NFL's integrity ... and it's
respect ... can continue to disreguard all those flagrant fouls ... to reward
the Dreg?~ Now that's entertainment.
