Continuity
April 27, 2021
If you're foolish enough to covet ... being apart of the 2nd round ... where you think
that selection is so important ... you'd be better served trading out of your 1st
round (14th pick) by swapping first rounders to then picking that 2nd round
selection. If that doesn't sound so good, then you better stand pat ...
because you're holding onto a bonaza. Before you consider trading a bunch of picks to trade up
into the 2nd round you'd be better served to take a moment to look at what you
actually have rather than what you'd like to have
(a second round pick). You're holding a bunch of wild cards that can
& will find diamonds.
In 2020 we paid an enormous cost in allowing all those free agents to sign with
other franchises. Sure, we earned some compensatory picks for 2021 but
from all those warm bodies ... what we got was the shaft. Enough said!!!
The bulk of these 2021 picks will be necessary to restock the shelves for
2022. Will they have an impact on our 2021 season ... most certainly ...
but not out of the gate. Our 2020 season was a great learning opportunity
melded with some bad breaks. We started our season with a major weakness
in the middle of that defensive line where it just exacerbated out of
control. Head Coach Zimmer, barring disaster, will have a very strong
middle ... maybe the likes of the Williams Wall. We'll see if Hunter
joins-in as elite status is a definite possibility, especially with all that
fresh blood developed in that 2020 season.
The only question is ... what will fall to us at #14 ... where maybe the
cupboard will be picked clean. Drama is now an undeniable trait of the up
north knuckleheads. Absolutely love it.
Will this year be different? I expect Rick Spielman to once again open the
door to draft day trades for 2022 picks ... just don't get your nuts caught
coveting ... as your 2021 draft position is as sweet as I've ever seen it..
This is all possible because of CONTINUITY. Our ownership has stood firm
in its beliefs where maybe it finally pays off. One thing is for
certain. WAG's no longer man these decks. Good luck boys & happy
hunting.
