Chisena  November 4, 2020
Looking at that our final stanza versus the Packers, the inactive Dan Chisena & Head Coach Mike Zimmer were clearly presented with a wake up call.  Having lost Dantzler & Boyd, we found ourselves with absolutely no reserves remaining moving Anthony Harris into the slot.  If not for D.J. Wonum's strip sack of A. A. Ron on that final play, what may have resulted is another Hail Mary attempt giving the Packers the win in that contest.  On that play, Chisena's hands & speed may have also had a chance to thwart A. A. Ron's down field attempt.  In a prior interview, Coach indicated that Chisena practiced with the DB's during the training camp session of our 2020 season where he at least had more time to acclimate with those guys as compared to grabbing another warm body off the street.

Chisena certainly is an athletic specimen ... enough to make our initial 53 man roster ... even though he may have only been slated for special teams with the abilities toward starting however for him there is a log jam at wide receiver ahead of him.  Converting him to safety or defensive back isn't anything new in this league where the emphasis should be in getting our top athletes on the field to help redefine the structure of this team.

At times like these, I can't help but think of "Money Ball", where the catcher is told that his days behind the plate were over, which was good news ... because we want you to play first base for us.  Chisena's dream may be to be a wide receiver in this league but reality always steps in.  Players play & to do that you need to find that open door.  That might explain why Everson Griffen, at one point, was a gunner for this franchise, eventually turning himself into a great defensive end.

Your a special teams ace ... which means your going to need to learn how to tackle & apply proper angles.  Your a wide receiver which means that you don't have hands of stone which is a major leg up over many DB's.  You've got top speed ... enough said.  You can see well enough to point a ball ... meaning you can focus on an active players center of mass.  In my book, as long as your not taking your eyes of a receiver ... then you can be a DB.  What you don't have is experience, understanding that we had used 7 rookies playing defense for this squad last week.  I don't see the problem other than someone deciding that you be inactive versus the packers last week.

It's not about taking your turn on the inactive squad.  We need all-capable-hands on deck.
