Beg Pardon December 10, 2020
I just read Michael Rand's latest article where he denotes that this 2020 season
ranks in the top 5 as being amongst the most frustrating since our infamous 1998
season. Pardon Me! Bub! You got it wrong as this could be the most
entertaining season ever. As you'll recall, it began with 15 draft picks
along with the trading a #1 receiver to the Buffalo Bills. Rick Spielman &
Company, being in salary cap hell, having to overbid for our own players,
favored building a champion through the draft. Then Ching Chong (screw
your politically correct crap) virus evolved
into a nightmarish set of constraints jeopardizing all of 2020 football ... both
college & Pro. If you're not just another fantasy
retard ... you know ... like a real NFL fan, you've been on the edge of your seat
ever since.
From Michael Rand's posture, he's positioned to unleash his ... I told you so
... this thing would all self destruct construct ... understanding that we've
been in survival mode ... on the edge of a precipice ... since our October 18th defeat at the hand of the Falcons
,,, resting at 1-5. Seems to me, that this posture of applying defeatism
upon this franchise just
doesn't seem all that difficult ... or better said is gutless... taking your
opportunity to sling mud at this very young 2020 group of athletes. Sure
you might be frustrated,
having to be on the edge of your seat for the last 53 days, but there is no
question, & you must admit,
that there is no better entertainment anywhere. Then again, maybe you're
the spawn of the Yankee's who considers only one of two possibilities: Either you're part
of the bull dozer (Yankee's) or you're part of the pavement. Dude ... it's
about the struggles of life ... not go along narratives.
To be direct, I'm sick of the world's view of what the world should look
like. Do you feel more comfortable backing the blackened thugs of western
Pennsylvania ... because that's exactly what they are ... dipping their shoulder
into your opponent upon your return to the huddle. In Pittsburgh they call
that class.
...
The very thing that you're missing that makes this whole thing entertaining is
the learning curve ... and the steep slope thereof ... as even old dogs like Head Coach Mike Zimmer & the
"Omnipotent but Genius Gary Kubiak" are still evolving each &
every day ... and that's not "experience-gas". The wonderment of
that ball & twine to come up with defenses that thwarted Wilson (when it
counted) was a marvel to behold.
Up to and including our last two games, how often did you ever see Kirk Cousins
lead a come from behind victory. It happened only just once before. His
come-back percentages were off the chart bad however, to be able to do it consistently, you
either have it come naturally, to get lucky every time, or you need to learn how to do it.
Sure Kirk Cousins might be one of the most gifted quarterbacks ever but that
doesn't mean that everything came to him naturally. Said another way, some
of the best athletes I ever coached initially didn't have a natural inclination at
anything but they did have the determination to perfect every step toward achieving
their overall athletic status. Yes, these bouts are beyond frustrating but
they are also very necessary. Generally speaking, you don't learn much
from our many accomplishments (Culpepper throws ball deep to Moss) but rather,
we learn from having to deal with all those cumulative little & big failures.
Now take a look at the present set of projected playoff teams which include the
Titans, Colts, Packer's x 2, & the Sea Holes ... not to mention the yearly
sausage grinder of our own Black & Blue Division ... then add in the soon to be
Bucs & Saints, and you get a fairly good picture that our 2020 season has
been peppered with real contenders. This franchise has produced top
entertainment value considering that learning-curve time line. Just for a
moment consider the entertainment value of that Sea Holes contest.
As a live event that was well worth the price of admission. In other words,
what you are missing is the
entertainment value that has increased exponentially as the learning curve has
been applied. Yes, my friend ... it's been entertaining indeed. Now
keep in mind that a good deal of our losses in 2020 were to teams like the Pokes
& the Dirty Bat-Crappers. 2 of the losses came in our 1st two
games.
Now counter this with the Rams slate. On it
you'll find victories against all 4 NFC East opponents when they were dismal,
then include victories over the Bears, Bucks & the Cards at the start of
their slides, They lost to both Buffalo & Miami, facing a potential
fallen Patriot team, leaving the Jets downstream. It's not only who you
play but when & where your play them too. Maybe if we had such a
schedule, we might have more healthy players. Sure you could point to the
NFC west divisional opponents however I just don't trust divisional opponents
outside the Black & Blue Division where everything if fought for like scraps
on the floor. How often have you seen the NFC south lose just about all
their divisional games to the eventual division winner to improve their playoff
seeding ... a little disconcerting. NO SUCH LUCK in the Black & Blue
Division..
No, we are Vikings thru & thru ... cutting open a vein to bleed
purple. We aren't know for Super Bowl Championships but there is no
question that acceptance of anything other than a maximum effort ... to simply
learn how to win ... is the minimum expectation. We'll all walk the
worlds fence line. We'll face the volcanic ash, the thunder, the
lightning, the heavy winds, the hail, the snow & all the ice of the tundra
... as we are the spawn of it all ... the elements. Succumbing to the
heavy seas ... as it seems ... shall always be our destiny but one thing is for
certain ... we'll put the fight!
