BEAR TRAP  November 12, 2020
Zero (0) wins & nine (9) consecutive losses on Monday night football.  Four (4) consecutive losses versus the Bears, even though Kirk Cousins didn't start against the Bears at home due in part to our debacle at home the previous week versus the "Tundra Fudgies".   Changing winds are well overdue?

Can you think of anyone on this planet earth that might want to say, more than any other talking entity on this planet:

"Did you like 'Dat????"

In speaking with Jim & Pat on the 3pm broadcast on SiriusXM NFL channel, we were reminded that Kirk Cousins record on Monday night, under the lights, is less than dismal, where Pat wants to pick the Vikings in the worst way however he's not about to fall into "The Bear Trap", as he called it.  Well, maybe ... just maybe ... Kirk Cousins is overdue.  Also, accepting "The Bear Trap" is the mindset of a loser.  I guarantee you that what Pat wants to say, it that he picked wrong (Da' Bears) where he's gushing over the very thought & powerful image of Kirk Cousins saying to his crew, "Did you like 'Dat".  In the days of this virus, the world is aching for " GOOD INFECTIOUS".

There is no monkey on Kirk Cousins back, to douse an embarrassing crap down his spine, but metaphorically ... it's there all the same.  The outstanding question of the day being ... what does he intend on doing about it.

Sure, before every game there's butterflies & a bit of raw nervousness ... which is to be expected, however Kirk Cousins doesn't need to do anything but allow it to evolve freely ... and be apart of it ... as being one dimensional versus the Da Bears just can't happen with the resources at his command.

Today, you could pull up a long list of statistics on Kirk Cousins, which include one of the lowest marks possible for come back wins, or even his overall won loss record but none of that can even approximate his talent or his ability to win any contest in which he plays.  Even though he could point to his many years of experience in the NFL, when it comes to being a winner, at this stage in his career, he's simply outclassed.  Why? Well ... simply stated ... it comes down to Psychology ... maybe the most overlooked aspect in training any quarterback in the league but changing that is like flipping a switch.  How do I know that to be true ... because he does it all the time ... he just doesn't understand it.  Call it ... "The immaturity of psychology".

In consideration of psychology, the make-up of a perfect quarterback is one that has no short term memory.  In other words, they cannot remember their latest exploit just accomplished as their peripheral mind has already wandered into & toward their next exploit ... in their next opportunity.  In other words, "Winners always want the ball (that next opportunity)", but that must be tempered with waiting ones turn.  Without it ... opportunities wane away ... which is why only losers abandon the run game.

So how does Brett Favre or Russel Wilson compare to Kirk Cousins & his present development.  You could argue just about anything, like arm skill, or stature, or running ability, or whatever but there is one key difference that revolves around psychology ... that winning mindset.  If you were to ask Kirk Cousins, what is your objective in running this play, he would probably state, that based upon the evolution of this play, he'd be looking to exploit a weakness, or a hole in the defense.  To go one step further, a hitter in baseball is looking to exploit some hole in that defense.  Now ask that question of Brett Favre or Russel Wilson & they will tell you before any situation that there are holes absolutely everywhere.  If this is the mindset, then there is no possibility of losing.  Some people call these types winners.  Sure, Teddy Bridgewater had his shortcomings that led him to where he is today but there is one thing for certain ... he is a winner ... just not equipped with that mad physique that could get him there.  Love you Teddy Two Gloves.

Have you ever heard Kirk Cousins speak about a loss, as if somehow it didn't matter ... It's only one game.  Well, what if that game was the Super Bowl, is that OK to lose?  Well, Kirk Cousins is my quarterback & I can tell you that the only way that he could accept any loss was if that loss was completely out of his control.

So why do I find Kirk Cousins so infectious.  Well, its due in part to watching him find his free unencumbered spirit on that field.  He's willing to take his licks ... limiting his losses, only to move onto that next opportunity.  At the end, God allows us to shake off our mortal coil, whereas in life, we search for the moments where we are allowed to be free & unencumbered.  Preparation puts us into that position but searching for that elusive feeling ... through our next opportunity... is what it is all about.  Who was it that said, "We didn't lose ... we just ran out of time", clearly understood what it is to be a winner.

The game doesn't actually slow down, however, it is in the mind where that games slows down.  The irony that is so thick, you could wipe it away with your arms, is in how many are actually searching for that true entity, that goes by the name Kirk Cousins.  They are so eager for you to break through that petulant imaginary veil, that it makes us all talk treason.  They are hiding deep within all those nooks & crannies awaiting for that free spirit to emerge.  They can see it behind your smile ... they can see it in your eyes.  See the field for what it truly is knowing that everything is actually ... wide open.

Would you rather showcase a contested 22 yard down-the-field throw, playing into their hand to no effect, or would you rather find that moment of complete bliss & satisfaction ... under & within something that is so infectious ... that it cannot be denied.  There are so many un-named players, more off the field than on, that await that infectious mind set ... that winning psychology.

So to our owner, our coach, our GM, & all the vested parties ... how much time & resource has there been placed into the psychology of Kirk Cousins winning mind set ... and can he clearly see all those holes that are absolutely everywhere.   We've had winners before but when are we going to compound ... meld together ... that winning mindset with mad skills like Kirk Cousins... so that his simple smile ... helps to light up the world again.  Be free my friend.
